AI is taking over students’ lives. Emily Withers, a teacher at MHS, shares her opinions on students’ usage of AI.

“There are a lot of good things that can be done with AI, but it is also ruining people’s creative thinking and critical thinking skills,” Withers said.

AI is used by many students, almost daily, and they use it to help them with their work. Ms. Withers knows that students are using AI, but she thinks they should only use it for specific things.

“ I think AI would be good for suggestions and or for corrections,” Withers said.

AI can also have positive and negative effects on the human mind.

“At the moment, it’s negative because I think people are still kind of figuring out the balance of how to use it. But there’s also a lot of good coming from it, so it’s hard to say just one or the other,” Withers said.

Most of society has become too reliant on the usage of AI instead of using their own thinking skills to come up with their own results and work.

“I think most people or students in their schoolwork rely on it too heavily,” Withers said.
