Madison Hoops Ready for State: Both teams eyeing Championship Glory

Madison basketball teams are on fire as they head into their state tournaments these coming weeks, with the boys and girls teams showing promising results and high hopes of
victory. This season, the Madison girl’s basketball team has achieved some big victories and goals. With a solid 18-8 season, they have jumped up to the #6 spot in the 6A Idaho state rankings, passing Rigby despite losing to them three times by no more than 10 points each.
Last season, the Bobcats made it to state for the first time in multiple years and now they’re back again. Five returning seniors, including prominent leading scorers and leaders on the court- Maggie Anderson and Nora Waddoups- and returning junior-Mia Walsh-the Bobcats have high expectations to perform well in the Ford Center this weekend.
This Thursday, the girls will face the #3 teams in the tournament Eagle in the Ford Center at noon with their eyes firmly set on the state championship.
Brielle Nite, a returning Junior who went to state with the varsity team last year as a sophomore expressed, “I think state is going to go very well. We’re excited to be able to go two years in a row, each time with the same goal in mind: to win the whole thing.”
The girls’ energy and determination could make this season their big break to the top.
On the boy’s side, the Madison Bobcats are also riding on an impressive season after their victory in the district semi-finals to Canyon Ridge 85-56.
Ranked #3 in the Idaho 6A state rankings, the boys are said to win the district championship and come into the state tournament with confidence. The team’s success is brought by a strong 5 senior leading group with the addition of the #1 player in Idaho Nash Humphreys.
Junior Kyle Orr who is determined to bring home the state title said, “ We have high expectations for ourselves and win state.”
The Bobcats who have had an impressive season, will enter the state tournament in March as the #3 seed planned to play the #6 seed Coeur d’Alene Vikings at the ford center on March 6th.
The Vikings will be entering the Ford Center with a strong batch of five returning seniors but the Bobcats are ready to show their determination for the title. With their eyes locked on the prize, Madison boys basketball knows they have what it takes to win the state championship.
As both teams gear up for their games, excitement is building at Madison. Fans are excited to see how far these two teams can go, with the girls’ and boys’ teams carrying the high expectations and a desire to bring home first.
