Madison Bobcats defeat Canyon Ridge RiverHawks
On January 29th, 2025, Madison took on Canyon Ridge, at Madison High School. With the win from Madison 71-58. As both teams stepped onto the court, they all had confidence in winning, but only one team could come out with the win. Fans in the gym were turning their heads back and forth the whole game. Both teams were very aggressive in getting the ball back.
In the first quarter, Canyon Ridge got the tip off. The Bobcats were in the lead with a score of 17-9. During this whole quarter, there was a ton of back and forth for teams scoring. It was the only quarter that was this close. Defense was definitely something strong for everyone tonight. Each player was making sure that they were doing their job, which was to not let the other team score.
Next came the second quarter. Every player was pushing so hard so that either one of them could end up winning. The score now at the end of the quarter was 39-20, with Madison in the lead.
At halftime, Madison High School had a show for everyone. It was senior night for the dance team. There were only three seniors. Those three were Elli Hill, Ella Miller, and Olivia Brizzee. Also going on a Madison was a fundraiser for the Best Buddies prom. What they did for that was they had two games of lightning going on. The two winners were Kaden Laws and Thomas Crisps. Those two got to pie Principal, Bradee Klassen, and Assistant Principal Chris Chase.
Then came the third quarter. This is when the Bobcats started to lose it. “We played really good in the first half. We kind of led off in the second half but in the end we won,” said Lerwill. Madison was able to pull through with the score at the end of the third quarter 59-43.
Last was the fourth quarter. There was a ton of scoring this quarter. But in the end the Madison Bobcats came out with the win 71-58.
Carter said, “It clenched us the 1st seed in the distract.” This was a great win for the Bobcats.
Madison’s highest scorer was Bryce Wilson with 18 points. In the first quarter it was Nash Humpherys with 8. Second quarter it was Bryce Wilson with 6. In the third quarter they had two scores tied which were Carter Lerwill and Bryce Wilson with 8. Then lastly in the fourth quarter it was Nash Humpherys with 5 points.
Canyon Ridge’s highest scorer was Kade McEntire with 16. First quarter the RiverHawks had Dylan Brown with 5. Second quarter they had Mason Hill with 5. Then in the third and fourth quarter Canyon Ridge had Kade McEntire with 7 and 9.
