The battle of the M, a new rivalry that has arisen between Madison, Middleton, and Minico High Schools.  This triple dual promises to bring together some of the better if not the best wrestlers in the state of Idaho.

Madison started out versus Middleton, a tough Boise team.  Madison went down by 18 points from the start with 3 forfeits.  Madison had a couple of injuries at 106, 113, and 120.  However, on came Madison’s 126 out of the gate fast.  Teague wrestled a great match and came out with a couple of quick takedowns and won by points, team score is now 3-18.  Our 132 lost by a decision, 3-21.  Madison’s 138 lost by points 3-24.  It looks like a shellacking coming on.  However, Madison was able to win 144, 150,157, 165, 175,185, 190, 215, and HW.  In the end Madison won 36-21, with 3 pins.

Next Madison dualed Minico.  Again, Madison started out 0-18 because of forfeits.  Madison’s 126 came up big, winning by decision.  132 and 138 went down with some hard fought battles.  The opponent for Madison’s 138 was 6’7”.

A parent said, “Holy crap, I have never seen anyone that tall weigh 138 pounds!!!”

That was an understatement.  He was the tallest 138 pounder any of us have ever seen. Our 144 came out and won by fall.  We had wins with our 185, 190, 215, and HW all came out on top.  It was a really close dual losing 30-33 to Minico.

Coach Peterson said after the dual, “We wrestled well against a good opponent, we had some good and close matches, and some we should have won.”

Unfortunately, Madison didn’t come home with the Battle for the M trophy.  However, there is no doubt if we didn’t give up those 18 points of forfeits we would have come out on top.
