The Madison Wrestling team is having their first home tournament of the season

The Madison wrestling team are having the Madison invitational this weekend and this will be their first home tournament of this year, and there will be 16 teams that will be attending from across the state like Star valley, Blackfoot, and Jerome and even some teams from neighboring states like Wyoming, and Utah.

The wrestlers and coaches are very excited and ready to compete in this tournament and hopefully look to win the tournament for the second year in a row. Aaron Peterson, head coach said to the wrestlers, “this season we want to place higher than 4th at state this year” and  was followed with another statement to instill confidence within the team by saying“we are going out there and we will wrestle the best we can and bring it to them first.”

So far, the team has wrestled well. The team has been determined to meet the goals this season. The exceptional hard work that they are putting in and are striving to meet the team goals. So far this season the team has only lost to 3 teams this season and are expecting to improve and get better from the losses they have suffered from so far this season. This year, Madison increased their school size to a class 6A team. By continuing to increase in size the Madison Bobcats will be facing the biggest and toughest teams in the state. Some tough competition and duels later this season will push the Bobcats to be ready for the district tournament when they face tough teams like Highland, and Thunderridge in which Madsion shares the same district with. The Bobcats having skilled and competent wrestlers hopefully will give Madison the edge this season.  Having experienced wrestlers like Senior  heavyweight wrestler Rex Salas who wrestles heavy weight or 285  is currently  ranked second in the state. Another excellent wrestler who is committed to excellence and winning is Junior Ace Ingram, who wrestles 144 and is ranked fourth in the state.

The Madison Bobcat wrestlers have had great success  over the past few seasons and have repeated as district champions and look to achieve a 4th district championship. The Madison invitational and the other duels and tournaments will help prepare the Bobcat wrestlers to accomplish this feat. The program has evolved to be one of the best wrestling teams in the state and look to continue their success.
