Lights, camera and smiles, we can all imagine what Miss Madison, our local pageant might look like, but now Audrey Sutton, current Miss Madison takes us on an inside look on what it’s like to be a part of the whole experience.

“Miss Madison helps you develop skills, like doing interviews, how to walk and how to dress,” Junior Audrey Sutton said.

Being influenced by her sister who did pageants, she decided to give it a try too, which turned out to be a really good decision she made.

“I had so much fun with it and I loved preparing for it and I enjoyed growing with all the other girls that did it,” Sutton said.

Parts of the pageant are talent, poise, on stage questions, interviews and fitness. Participants also have to perform an opening number and have a platform to make our community a better place.

“My platform was all about taking one step closer to eliminate child hunger in our community,” Sutton said.

Audrey did a food drive at our school, where she got donated snacks to give to elementary school administrators and they gave those snacks to kids who were in need of a meal at the local elementary schools.

“I have also been working with the Idaho food banks to get backpacks for kids reinstated, which is about getting backpacks with food to the kids that they can take home and eat throughout the weekend,” Sutton said.

As she is working on this beautiful project, to help children in need and make Rexburg a better place, here is how she describes herself, with three qualities that definitely reflect in her actions.

“If I had to describe myself in three words I would say I’m fun, out-going and charming,” Sutton said.
