Nash Humphreys is Killing his Junior Year
Basketball isn’t just a hobby for Nash Humpherys, it’s in his blood. He has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember. His grandpa was a basketball player and coach, and Nash is now coached at Madison High School by his dad Shane Humpherys. As one of the lead scorers on varsity, Nash works hard at what he loves and it shows. He said, “There’s a lot I love about basketball, but my favorite part would have to be my teammates.” The Madison basketball team truly is a close-knit group of boys, which contributes to their chemistry on the court. Teammate Berrett Wilson says, “ I love Nash, he’s a dawg on and off the court.” The team hopes to take the state title this year, and things are looking good considering they are ranked third in the state on MaxPreps. Nash says, “One thing we do to prepare ourselves for state is having really good practices. Most of the best teams are on the other side of the state, so we have to work that much harder at practice.” One of Humpherys’ best games was against the California team, Corona Centennial where he scored 27 points. Off the court, one thing the boys have done to increase their mental toughness is planning multiple polar plunges in the freezing rivers in Rexburg as a team. It helps them physically and pushes them mentally. Ice-cold baths prepare them to be on fire on the court.
