State Bound?
The Madison girls basketball team has an opportunity to make the Idaho State Basketball
tournament for the first time in several years. The Bobcats came off a big win this past Saturday
against the Thunder Ridge Titans with a score of 54-43 that secured them a spot in the District
Championship.
Although the Bobcats got a big win on Saturday, they lost a big part of their team that
night. Starting guard Alli Meagan went down with a knee injury that will put her out for the rest of
the Postseason. “It’s a huge loss to our team because she’s easily one of our best defenders
and adds a lot to this team,” teammate Nora Waddups said. “We will definitely miss her
presence on defense and composure with the ball in her hands.” Head coach Luke Sutton
states. “Our prayers go out to her as she recovers from this injury.”
Madison played Rigby on Tuesday in the District Championship and took a tough loss to
the Trojans. Although they lost, they still have a chance to make the state tournament. The
Bobcats will play the loser of Middleton and Eagle this Saturday in Burley. If Madison wins that,
they have secured their spot in the State tournament for the first time In several years.
“We are very much looking forward to playing this Saturday for an opportunity to go to
State.” Starting post Mia Walsh said. “The atmosphere is just amazing and we would love to be
a part of the state tournament.”
