Bobcats fall short to Titans

On Thursday night the Madison Junior Varsity team was defeated by the Thunderidge Titans 58-49 at Madison’s home. The Titans were immediately able to establish a dominant lead throughout most of the
game because of their dominance in the paint and their ability to secure rebounds defensively and offensively which led to many second-chance points. Going into the locker room at halftime it was obvious that the offense was not clicking so the Madison players were told that they needed to focus on their rebounding and to make sure they could have easier shots on offense by being more patient. Still, in the third quarter, the condition of the game remained the same with the Titans having a significant lead of 15 points at the end of it. That was until in the fourth quarter the Bobcats were able to put together a 14-4 run to come within five of the Titans with under three minutes to play. But from there Thunderidge was able to establish control of the game and stop the Bobcats run through a couple of patient possessions and Madison missed shots to achieve the district victory. The Titans were led by number 23 Hudson Harker who had 19 of his team’s points and then by number 0 Jaden Vest who had 9. The Bobcats were led by the
Freshman number 3 Nash Humphreys who had 13 of his team’s points and then by Freshman number 10 Bryce Wilson who had 8. Kauner Eysser, an active sub for the Bobcats, was out for this game and will be out for the next versus Rigby.

“We need to be more patient on offense and move the full length of the court,” Assistance Coach Webb said.

Webb also mentioned how Thunderidge was able to play aggressive defense constantly and patient offense which led to many easy shots down the stretch for them. This was the second district game played by Madison which puts their conference record at 1-1and their overall record at 4-6. This puts Madison in the Junior Varsity district standings at 3rd.
