FLIPPING FROWNS 

Today people find themselves struggling to smile. This week marks the fourth week of school being cancelled. Student’s are bored, and everyone is getting a little stir-crazy. One MHS Student decided he was going to do something about it.

“I had a very strange idea. I decided to post embarrassing pictures of myself as a child and expose myself, because there’s nothing else more interesting to do,” Senior Colter Hinckley said.

Hinckley’s brief explanation “…because there’s nothing else more interesting to do,” left many wondering why he actually chose to post numerous videos of his childhood scrapbooks.

“I found myself being pretty frustrated. I’m the type of person that likes to help in some way. A friend suggested that I just try to make people laugh… A couple months ago I posted an embarrassing photo of myself and everyone loved it. So I decided to just post as many embarrassing photos as I could and add funny commentary,” Hinckley said.

With Hinckley’s permission, a few selected photos and the humorous commentary is found below.

Hinckley’s comical photos and videos lifted spirits and helped to flip frowns to joyful smiles.

“Oh my gosh, Colter, this MADE my day! Thank you!” one MHS student responded to Hinckley’s post.

All students, especially 2020 Seniors, are struggling with disappointment, including Hinckley.

“This time has really pushed me to work through my life… I’m really just trying to look at all of the blessings in my life,” Hinckley said.

It would seem other’s are looking to Hinckley for the positive in life as well.

“A lot of people have given me ideas: Recreate this skit, sing this song, choreograph a dance, do all these things to entertain and to help people smile.”

Hinckley’s debut of his childhood scrapbook appears to not be the last effort to lift spirits. 

“I’m always the person that people say that can turn anything (even quarantine) into something entertaining.”
