Dating in today’s society is a lot different than it used to be and commitment is a bigger issue than it once was. Students and teachers

at MHS have different opinions about dating in today’s society.

“I take her [Junior, Ashley Orr] on dates.  We have gone bowling and we went rollerblading like two weeks ago. I pay for her and open her doors,” Senior Bennett Smith said.

Other students at MHS think the opposite. Junior Hunter Clay believes that dating is time consuming and commitment is an issue.

“It’s not worth it. Too much money and too much time,” Clay said. “Nobody wants to commit to a relationship.”

Mr. Forbes believes that dating should not be a thing of the past but that it is becoming one. He believes that social media plays a big role in it.

“I think social media has become so prevalent in our culture that it has caused people to become nervous with expressing their emotions in person,” Mr. Forbes said. “They have gotten used to hiding behind the screen so whenever it comes to asking someone out on a date, they don’t know how to do it properly which is when they start hanging out instead of dating.”
