Exchange Students Exchange Their Stories

MHS has 28 exchange students. They are from Europe, Asia, South America, and all over the world. This is one of the unique and amazing part of MHS.

“Having exchange students in MHS is very beneficial because it gives our school more diversity and it allows students to learn about different cultures and make friends with students from different countries,” Assistant principal, Mr. Klassen said.

Being an exchange student could sometimes be hard. However, they can learn more from that experiences and that will give them chances to think who they really are.

Hodaka Koike, and exchange student from Japan, poses in the halls of his new high school for a year.

“I wanted to change myself, so I decided to go abroad as an exchange student. The hardest thing to be an exchange student was to express myself and to make friends, but I learned a lot from that,” An exchange student from Japan, Hodaka Koike said.

The exchange students came to the states with having their own goal or dream. Choosing to be an exchange student is a very important choice that is made.

“I came here because I wanted to be more independent. I enjoy every moment that I’m spending. I feel like I’m living in a movie! Being an exchange student is the best decision that I have made in my life,” An exchange student from Spain, Sandra Gonzalez said.
