A lot of the time in the NBA we have arguments of who is the greatest player of all time. Many fans come up with names like Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, and a few others. One of the key aspects that makes these players great, is that they were all ahead of their time, meaning that their games were so evolved that the generation they played with could not keep up with them. Often we try to debate who the greatest player of all time is, but I don’t completely agree with that argument as a whole. I believe we should instead look at who is the greatest generational player instead of who is the greatest of all time.

In today’s NBA we have players like Lebron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. These players have dominated this generation and their personal style has been reflected in new and upcoming players as well. So the question arises, who is the greatest player of our generation? There is a simple answer to that–and that is Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry has not only made a huge impact on the way the game is played, but he has won two MVPs and two finals trophies. He put together one of the greatest regular seasons of all time winning seventy-three games, winning MVP, taking his team to the finals, and averaging thirty points a game. Not only was it a dominant season but it was an efficient season with his efficiency rating for the season ranking in the top three of all time with Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. He has been the most sold jersey for the past three years and is really the people’s champion. He’s a devout Christian and makes many charitable donations. He is a great example for the children today. He has influenced even the way that they play the game. They see a smaller guy out there dominating the NBA and they think “Hey that little guy is doing it, I think I can do it too”.

Although there have been many great players this generation, there have been few who have come close to reaching Curry’s merit. Many will disagree and that’s ok because sports are subject to opinions. So you decide.
