From Preliminaries to Octafinals, the Madison High School Debate Team fought for a state title in Boise last week. Between March 10th and the 13th, fourteen students competed in a variety of events in hopes of winning State Debate.

“The team did very well, if we had two more people break into octofinals we probably would’ve taken state,” said Senior Andrew Willis.

After competing on March 11 and 12, the team placed 4th overall.

In Public Forum: Andrew Willis/Tyler Christensen placed 3rd, and Isaic Orr/Camille Garner placed 5th.

Madison also competed in other events such as Lincoln-Douglas, and Congressional Debate. These events are based on debates in one-on-one, two-on-two, and group settings.

The next competition is slated for this summer in Salt Lake City, Ut at the Nationals.
